Limited-Edition Chair Brings African Safari to Your Living Room
Forget about the African Safari Jeep. This time, the wild comes to your living room in the form of a chair. Inspired by the African Safari, this handmade plush chair brings the charm of wilderness and softness to your home. After the success of the Alpin armchair, Belgian-based furniture brand AP Collection decided to reintroduce the limited-edition African Safari chair, leading the originality of its signature work.
The idea of an animal plush chair commenced with two visionary souls (now the founders of AP Collection), Alexis and Pauline, who exchanged endearing stuffed animals as a symbol of affection and love because of their geographical gap. After reuniting, they embraced their shared ardor for originality, forming AP Collection, and consequently, the chair.
The reimagined African safari wildlife took an unexpected turn in furniture itself. The boucle chair is upholstered in New Zealand sheepskin and soft plushies, including lion, leopard, zebra, crocodile, giraffe, elephant, buffalo, some apes, and more.
Pauline Montironi, co-founder of AP Collection, told Homecrux, “The African Safari chair was imagined as a small landscape of its own, where each animal contributes to the story of the piece. We wanted to create something expressive and unexpected, while never compromising its function as a chair. The placement of every animal was therefore carefully considered to preserve both the composition and the comfort of the seat.”
The process begins with the fabrication of fiberglass shells. Then, each plush animal is selected and padded before being entirely hand-sewn and assembled by the artisans. The result is both a functional piece of furniture and an ode to the wildlife and visual richness of the African landscape. The stuffing is mainly made from recycled plastics, giving a new purpose to discarded waste.

Aside from the soft polyester plushies, there is a metal pedestal, lending proper balance to the overall aesthetics. The pedestals are also available in a wide range of finishes, including matte, chrome, plated, wood, and hand-hammered options.
The African Safari chair is entirely handcrafted by skilled artisans in Belgium, ensuring uniqueness and attention to detail. It will be showcased at Maison & Objet in September 2026, where it is sure to become the center of attraction.
