Eagle Point leads $1.3bn private credit loan for Texas data centre

Eagle Point Credit Management is providing about $1.3bn of private credit financing for a major artificial intelligence data centre in Texas that is set to be anchored by Anthropic, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The mezzanine facility forms part of a much larger $16bn project financing package for Nexus Data Centers’ planned 2,900-acre campus in Hubbard, around 70 miles south of Dallas, according to a person familiar with the transaction.

Eagle Point is the largest investor in the mezzanine loan, which ranks below the senior portions of the financing. The mezzanine financing has recently closed, according to a statement seen by Bloomberg.

The campus is expected to include its own gas-fired power generation facility, with Anthropic serving as its primary tenant. Banks including Morgan Stanley are leading the broader financing package, which was previously reported at around $15bn.

Nexus reportedly declined to comment, while Anthropic reportedly did not respond to a request for comment.

The Hubbard development is Nexus’s first data centre project and is part of a nationwide buildout aimed at meeting soaring demand for computing capacity from companies developing and running AI models.
