OceanSound Partners-backed Certerra acquires Skyrise Engineering and Testing in Florida

OceanSound Partners-backed Certerra, a provider of technology-enabled testing, inspection and certification services in materials engineering and the earth sciences, acquired Skyrise Engineering and Testing, a geotechnical and materials testing firm headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The deal marks Certerra’s fifth acquisition of 2026, further strengthening its presence throughout the Southeast.

Skyrise, founded in 2022 and led by engineers Eric Stern and Richard Fesdjian, provides geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, specialty inspections, monitoring and condition assessment services, and environmental consulting. Stern and Fesdjian, who bring 20 years of industry experience, have worked on many of South Florida’s most recognizable developments and will remain with the company to lead growth in the South Florida market.

Since the start of 2026, Certerra has completed five acquisitions, adding more than 250 team members, seven offices across five metropolitan markets, and new capabilities in building envelope testing and inspection, metallurgy and metals laboratory testing, and specialized engineering and consulting services. Since 2021, Certerra has unified more than 20 businesses into a national platform with more than 1,800 engineers, technicians and scientists across more than 65 offices and laboratory facilities.
