KKR hires JPMorgan veteran to drive Japan wealth expansion
KKR is strengthening its push into Japan’s private wealth market with the appointment of JPMorgan senior salesperson Sayori Kondo as managing director and co-head of wealth for Japan, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Kondo is expected to join the US alternative investment manager in late October and will work alongside Yoshikatsu Takemoto, who joined KKR in 2024, according to a company spokesperson.
The move comes as global private equity firms step up efforts to tap Japan’s expanding pool of wealthy investors, whose substantial cash holdings are increasingly being directed towards alternative investments including private equity and private credit.
Kondo has spent about four years at JPMorgan in Tokyo, most recently serving as Japan head of equity derivatives sales and marketing. Before joining the US bank, she held sales roles at Goldman Sachs and Citigroup.
