Airo Lets You Customize Indoor Air Monitoring Around Family’s Needs

Indoor air purifiers are doing their job of cleaning the air we breathe indoors. Their onboard displays reveal a few set numbers for air quality, but there is no way to understand what each of them means. Now, Sensereo has introduced Airo at IFA 2026 to change that. Airo is a modular indoor environment sensing system that, in addition to notifying users about what’s happening with the air around them, also helps them understand what to do with that data.

Dubbed the world’s first modular air sensor, Airo comprises a central Dock and a few interchangeable wireless Pods, which users can configure to monitor their individual air quality concerns inside the house.

So, instead of being a device that provides fixed numbers from preinstalled metrics, Airo lets users pick the specific environmental conditions they want to track.

To monitor indoor air quality based on their “homes, lifestyles, and individual concerns,” Sensereo offers consumers the Airo with modular Pods to measure carbon dioxide (CO₂), total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), particulate matter, and temperature and humidity.

Individual consumers can pick the central Dock and modular wireless Pods based on what they want to track at home. If you want to assess ventilation and air freshness, get the CO₂-measuring Pod, while the TVOC-monitoring Pod can help you keep track of volatile organic compounds. A particulate matter Pod can help monitor pollutants such as dust, smoke, and allergens, while temperature and humidity Pods can help keep tabs on these metrics.

Airo Pods are powered by batteries and can run for up to 30 days on a single charge, depending on the sensing conditions. When it senses a condition that may need human attention, Airo provides an alert on your smartphone, along with recommendations to help you take simple corrective action.

Sensereo is accepting preorders for Airo now. The Airo starter kit, comprising the Dock and four Pods for monitoring CO₂, TVOCs, particulate matter, and temperature and humidity, is available for preorder at $299. It will eventually retail for $399 when Airo becomes available later this year.
