Human Interest Inc., a 401(k) and 403(b) plan recordkeeper, announced Thursday the launch of its compliance guarantee, backed by artificial-intelligence-powered predictive compliance monitoring.
According to a company statement, Human Interest’s proprietary predictive compliance program monitors retirement plan health on an ongoing basis, detecting impending compliance failures with issues such as IRS tax penalties or Department of Labor compliance.
The program evaluates payroll cycles and recordkeeping data against core compliance metrics. It then projects participant gross wages and contributions through the end of the calendar year to track how plans may do in actual deferral percentage and actual contribution percentage tests.
The monitoring also includes a “top-heavy cost projection calculator,” a predictive tool that estimates the contribution amounts an organization may owe to bring a “top-heavy” plan back into balance.
Plan administrators are provided with an actionable yellow or green tracking health indicator within their Human Interest employer dashboard. They also receive recommendations of structural changes, such as automatic-enrollment adjustments or plan design amendments, to help neutralize issues before testing deadlines arrive.
Human Interest’s compliance guarantee includes:
- Annual Form 5500 documentation and filing for all 3(16) customers, as well as required data and documentation for non-3(16) customers;
- Annual compliance testing, including Top Heavy, ADP, ACP, 402(g) limit testing, 401(a)(30), 415, 410(b) minimum coverage, and 401(a)(4) testing;
- Large plan audits completed by May 1; and
- A choice of auditor options through an audit relief marketplace.
If Human Interest misses a commitment, an eligible plan can qualify for a $10,000 credit made to an Employee Retirement Income Security Act spending account for qualifying expenses.
Rakesh Mahajan, Human Interest’s chief revenue officer, says plan sponsor clients need to provide at least three months of data to receive accurate results.
“We’re going to get way in front of … compliance, that’s the guarantee,” Mahajan says. “If there’s a mistake, even if it’s your mistake, we’ll take care of it, and most of the time, we’ll do the compensation side, too.”
The compliance monitoring will be introduced to existing non-safe-harbor Human Interest plans this summer, with advanced monitoring for top-heavy compliance. Proactive tracking for ADP and ACP testing will launch throughout the rest of 2026.
Last year, Human Interest announced several pledges for customer service, including a price match guarantee to match or beat competing providers and a customer experience guarantee that offers credit for missed benchmarks. Human Interest also introduced last year an automated auditing process and an investment lineup that included collective investment trusts.
