Andy Cohen’s Bathroom Reinvents a 5,000-Year-Old Art Form
Mosaics first appeared in ancient Mesopotamia during the 3rd millennium BCE. Originally made of raw terracotta and shells, it’s unlikely the early artists imagined how far their technique would reach – or that it would find a multi-colored home in Andy Cohen’s primary bathroom.
Gorgeous photos of the Bravo host’s Hamptons home showcase a new take on the 5,000-year-old craft. We can’t get enough of the bathroom idea. Andy worked with designer Jackie Greenberg on his custom-built Amagansett beach house, transforming it into a playful yet functional, family-friendly retreat. Together, they came up with the idea to tile the bathroom in hundreds of rainbow shards from Bisazza.
Rather than feeling kitsch, the finished product is whimsical but elevated.

‘I am very decisive, but she is really good at pushing me,’ says Cohen, of working with his designer Jackie Greenberg on the colorful bathroom. ‘I just wanted it to be super colorful and funky. It’s meant to be, quite literally, a fun house.’

Feature tiles, coloured grouts, and painted ceilings are reintroducing individuality and energy into bathroom design. Expect to see rich jewel tones, bold mosaics, and decorative wall panels paired with classic neutrals for balance.’
This shift is part of the larger move towards viewing bathrooms as an extension of the home. They are now incorporating just as much design as any other room in the home. ‘The bathroom is no longer treated as a purely functional zone,’ advises Soma.
She continues: ‘In 2026, homeowners are turning towards warmer, more “lived-in” designs inspired by lounges and bedrooms. Expect layered textures, softer lighting, and natural finishes that invite calm and comfort for the ultimate wellness space. Plastered or limewashed walls, decorative sconces, and statement mirrors will give bathrooms the character of a curated interior rather than a clinical washroom.’
In addition to the colorful mosaic tiles in Andy’s bathroom, his choice of a curved, sculptural bathroom light goes a long way in setting the ambiance of his space. This technique is also growing more popular. ‘Tapping further into the trend for leisurely living spaces, I’m frequently seeing schemes that balance character just as much as comfort, and statement lighting is becoming more of an immersive quality rather than a functional necessity,’ states Rikki Fothergill, bathroom design expert at Big Bathroom Shop.
Rikki advises: ‘Curved features like honeycomb-inspired wall lights and oversized marble or stone lamp bases are fresh ways I’m seeing uniqueness and elegance being introduced into bathrooms without the need for a full redesign. Their softer, more fluid lines feel less formal and structured, mirroring the easy-going and uplifting ambience of summer.’
Though millennia have passed since the dawn of the mosaic technique, it can still feel just as modern and stylish today.
