Kourtney Kardashian’s ‘Boundary-Free’ Room Inspires a Trend

As a celebrity style editor, I’ve noticed that one of the most significant shifts in modern home design is the way spaces are increasingly conceived in conversation with the landscape. More often, architects are designing gardens to become part of everyday living – and Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s living room is one of my favorite examples of such an approach.

Set in Calabasas, California, the home was designed by Waldo Fernandez, whose work is celebrated for its restrained yet livable elegance. The interiors were designed as a place of retreat, with natural materials, generous proportions, and a palette that allows light and texture to take the lead. The open-plan living room sits at the center of the home, flowing directly onto Mediterranean gardens and outdoor seating areas.
