SylvanSport New Vire Camper Trailer Fits Bed, Bath and Kitchen

Hundreds of camper trailers debut at Overland Expo, but very few walk away with bragging rights. This time around, at Overland Expo Mountain West, one trailer not only drew mainstream media attention but also impressed the crowd with its build and quality: SylvanSport’s new Vire camper trailer.

Measuring 19.5 feet long and weighing 3,670 lbs, the trailer, as detailed by the company, is “easy to tow, easy to maneuver, and ready for the places larger RVs simply can’t reach.” The trailer follows neither a classic teardrop design nor a squaredrop profile. Instead, it has a rectangular, boxy shape, similar to its predecessor, the Vast camper trailer, which SylvanSport first showcased in 2019 before officially releasing it in 2023.

RV Business reports that the trailer packs a full kitchen, a U-shaped lounge area, and a wet bath with a cassette toilet. The layout sits inside an exterior built from one-piece, insulated, high-performance laminated composite panels that are permanently bonded with precision aluminum extrusions and advanced structural adhesives.

One aspect of the exterior that is instantly noticeable is the slight bulge at the front. As pointed out by Yanko Design, the bulge on the front is an oversized storage compartment for outdoor gear. Other features include double-pane windows that come with an integrated pull-down mesh screen.

Inside, the RV is equipped with a U-shaped lounge that can be transformed into a bed for two. To put that into context, all one needs to do is pull the table out, and it folds into a big bed. Leave the table in, and it works as a dinette for meals. The Vire keeps its floor plan fixed, with a kitchen block just past the entry door and a wet bath tucked in the back corner.

Speaking of the kitchen, it is compact but reasonably equipped for a trailer this size. The kitchen features a two-burner propane stove with cast-iron grates, a sink with a fold-down faucet, a cutting board that doubles as extra counter space, and cabinets and drawers that help in storing essentials. The kitchen comes with an optional microwave and convection oven combo, and a 12-volt fridge sits just off to the side.

Around the corner is the bathroom. The space packs a wet bath setup with a raised shower floor, a folding sink, and a cassette toilet. Unlike its predecessor, which offered built-in storage, the Vire offers storage options outside the trailer. The Vire has no rear hatch. Instead, campers walk in through a door on the rear right side, while bikes strap to a rack on the hitch receiver and kayaks tie down along airline-grade tracks running the length of the left sidewall. A wide external storage cabinet handles the rest, which can even be reached from inside through the lounge seating.

While the company doesn’t explicitly market it as an off-road or off-grid trailer, its feature set suggests it is ready for that kind of adventure. The Vire features a Truma combination furnace and water heater, a Truma air conditioner, and a pair of roof fans.

Other features include a 151-liter fresh water tank, and it rides on Dexter torsion axles with just under 11 inches of ground clearance. On the downside, no solar panels are fitted to the structure, making it evident that it is not built for serious off-grid use.

The Vire camper trailer is available starting at $59,995 and comes with a single 166-amp-hour LFP battery and wiring for solar, though it doesn’t include any panels. SylvanSport is taking $1,000 deposits now, with build slots opening up later this year and into next spring.
