Quiet luxury has become something of a throwaway term over recent months, but in Jennifer Connelly’s Brooklyn home, it feels reborn again. Her neutral living room has the elements usually associated with the look, including warm creams and beiges and wooden furniture – but nothing feels overly deliberate.
Floor-to-ceiling windows bring light into the room, while tall curtains and wall paneling add softness. Naturally, a grand piano anchors the space, alongside low cream seating and a velvet daybed. The scale is generous, but the furniture keeps the room feeling relaxed.
Jennifer’s living room color palette stays simple, with ivory, wood, and honey tones used throughout. There is an abundance of texture, but little in the way of unnecessary decoration. The result feels calm without veering into the beige-on-beige look that can make neutral interiors feel flat.

Jennifer’s simplicity is also central to how designers approach the ‘old money’ aesthetic. As Sofology creative stylist Julia Bilotta explains, ‘You don’t need to invest large amounts for a similar aesthetic.’
‘The ‘old money’ aesthetic is rooted in understated elegance, with a focus on creating a calm and considered environment,’ Julia says.
She recommends warm neutrals, timeless furniture shapes and quality materials that can work in a living room for years rather than being tied to a particular trend.
Jennifer’s furniture choices follow that formula. The cream seating has a low profile, while the velvet daybed, which is very similar to this one from Wayfair, adds softness without becoming a statement piece. Against the windows and woodwork, the fabrics give the room a sense of warmth.
For sofas, Julia suggests ‘understated shades such as cream, ivory, taupe or soft beige’, with fabrics including velvet, linen or sherpa. Classic upholstery and a few vintage or antique-inspired pieces can add interest without making the room feel too styled.
There’s certainly a sense of restraint throughout Jennifer’s living room. The furniture has room around it, the palette stays consistent, and the architecture really comes out to play. Her approach is simple, but one that has allowed me to see quiet luxury in a new light as we look towards 2027. I suggest you bookmark her space, too.
