Report Card on British Columbia’s Elementary Schools 2026
- The Report Card on British Columbia Elementary Schools 2026 ranks 1032 public and independent secondary schools based on 8 academic indicators derived from the provincewide Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) results.
- The Report Card offers parents information they can’t easily get anywhere else, about how schools perform over time and how they compare to other schools in British Columbia.
- The Report Card collects a variety of relevant, objective indicators of school performance into one, easily accessible public document so that anyone can analyze and compare the performance of individual schools. By doing so, the Report Card assists parents when they choose a school for their children and encourages and assists all those seeking to improve their schools.
- Contrary to common misconceptions, the data suggest every school is capable of improvement regardless of type, location and student characteristics.
- College Heights Elementary, a public school in Prince George, is one of the fastest-improving schools in the province, rising from a score of 1.5 out of 10 in 2021 to 6.7 in 2025.
- Likewise, Peterson Road Elementary, a public school in Langley, is one of the fastest-improving schools (rising from 5.2 in 2021 to 7.3 in 2025), despite 16.8 per cent of the school’s students having special needs.
- The findings in the Report Card show that schools can improve student performance regardless of which communities and students they serve. Improvement is possible and worth celebrating.
