Luka Kids New AI Drawing Projector Makes Children Creators

Artificial intelligence is everywhere around us, and even classrooms remain untouched. As families and teachers look for more ways to support creative learning without making kids dependent, Luka Kids has launched an AI-enabled drawing projector, which can translate a child’s spoken prompts into an outline for their artwork, they can then finish themselves.

The new AI projector unveiled at IFA 2026 is designed to be an assistive device, instead of being an AI device that does the learning for kids. Luka Kids has put years of learning and understanding into designing and developing the AI-assisted device for children’s learning and development.

“The result is an AI-assisted creative experience where the child remains the creator,” Luka Kids informs. The device is called the Luka Kids Drawing Projector. There is nothing fancy in the moniker, but it is designed with utmost care to foster early childhood creativity, without making the kids dependent.

The drawing projector therefore allows a child to describe their idea, character, or story aloud to it. The AI-enabled projector then turns the prompt into an outline for the child to work on. This trace is projected onto a sheet of paper, ready to be enhanced by the child, who can complete the outlines, color, or change the drawing, however they like.

The Luka Kids AI Drawing Projector, in addition to inviting children to draw on the outline created for them on their own instructions, also evolves as they draw. The embedded AI can adapt to the storyline around the child’s creation, allowing what the child draws to influence how the story unfolds. Luka will allow kids to grow their own world of characters over time. For now, it starts with its own INKO characters and has more of them in the pipeline.

So, Luka Kids’ new drawing projector does not generate finished artwork for the children; it instead fosters active participation in the creative process, inviting the children and even their families to indulge in the creative journey.

Children who don’t know where to start can choose from 384 different templates of unfinished character outlines available at launch. Even these outlines are not finished pieces, the company notes. The outlines are deliberately left with space for children to add their own details and ideas.

This distinction of the drawing projector, which doesn’t encourage over reliance instead requires participation, is what makes it different from other similar AI-first devices on the market. While some devices allow children to ask AI for a polished image, encouraging passive consumption and overreliance, the Luka Kids Drawing Projector helps children with cognitive learning and keeps them engaged through hints and guided reasoning, creating an environment for hands-on activities.

Luka Kids Drawing Projector does not have a definite price or launch timeline at the time of release. It is, according to sources in the company, expected to become available later this year.

In other news, Luka Kids has also unveiled an updated AI-assisted reading robot and also launched a discovery-focused AI device at IFA. Called the Luka AI Cube, the latter can help children learn everything from science and history to nature through their immediate surroundings.

Luka Kids Reading Robot, on the other hand, is a screen-less companion, which uses AI to read picture books aloud, page by page. The company has now integrated LLMs into the robot to broaden the range of books and literature it can engage with. Now, instead of just listening to stories, children can even ask the reading robot questions about the book or image, and it will reply in real-time with concepts and examples.
