Nvidia, CrowdStike and Salesforce face big tests tonight
Every weekday, the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer holds a “Morning Meeting” livestream at 10:20 a.m. ET. Here’s a recap of Wednesday’s key moments. 1. The S & P 500 was relatively muted Wednesday after the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index, showed that core prices remain elevated. Given that warmer-than-expected data and the dip in oil prices, Jim Cramer said he expected bond yields to pull back and stocks to rise. But that’s not happening because investors are waiting “to see what Nvidia has to say,” when it reports earnings after the bell. Separately, shares of Meta Platforms are up slightly after the company settled a social media addiction case brought by a coalition of state attorneys for $16.7 billion. Check your inboxes later today for a story on the implications of the news on this Club stock. 2. Nvidia shares were down 1% ahead of Wednesday evening’s print. Nvidia needs to beat analyst estimates and raise its guidance, but also provide more details on its relationships with hyperscalers and AI labs, which are increasingly looking to more customized chips for their businesses. On Tuesday, for example, OpenAI said that testing results for its new custom inference chip, developed with Broadcom, “show a significant performance advance.” Competition from these chips is a frequent topic on Nvidia’s earnings calls, and we expect CEO Jensen Huang to be asked about it again tonight. 3. Club stocks CrowdStrike and Salesforce also report after the bell, and both sides of the enterprise software trade will be tested. After getting crushed last fall and into 2026, the market has accepted that AI won’t kill the need for cybersecurity but will actually boost it. Portfolio director Jeff Marks said investors expect to learn about new deals. The stock is up more than 68% since the end of April, despite a recent pullback from its August high. Salesforce has had a big run in recent weeks, though it’s pulled back the past couple of days. Jeff said the software-as-a-service (SaaS) company will need to show it can continue to grow in the AI era. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff will join Jim on tonight’s episode of ‘ Mad Money ‘. 4. Stocks covered in Wednesday’s rapid fire at the end of the video were: I ntuit , Zoom , and J.M. Smucker . (Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust is long NVDA, META, CRM, and CRWD. See here for a full list of the stocks.) As a subscriber to the CNBC Investing Club with Jim Cramer, you will receive a trade alert before Jim makes a trade. Jim waits 45 minutes after sending a trade alert before buying or selling a stock in his charitable trust’s portfolio. If Jim has talked about a stock on CNBC TV, he waits 72 hours after issuing the trade alert before executing the trade.
